Body Composition Analysis

Body composition analysis estimates your body fat, muscle mass, body water, and visceral fat, and helps you track changes over time.

What does body composition analysis show?

Unlike a standard weight measurement, this analysis estimates the proportion of different components of your body:

  • fat tissue
  • muscle mass
  • bone mass
  • body water percentage
  • visceral fat level (fat around the internal organs)
  • basal metabolic rate (the energy your body uses at rest)

Two people with the same weight can have completely different body compositions. That is why body composition often tells you more than your weight or body mass index (BMI) alone.

Who can benefit from the analysis?

The analysis is useful if you want to track:

  • changes during weight management
  • improvements in metabolic health
  • the effects of changes in diet and physical activity
  • muscle mass preservation during medical treatment for obesity

The analysis is most valuable when repeated over time, because it shows whether you are losing fat or muscle, not just kilograms.

What does the analysis involve?

The analysis is quick, painless, and non-invasive. Afterwards, we review your results in the context of your health and lifestyle. Based on them, we recommend an individualized approach to prevention and better health, or use the analysis as part of monitoring and treating certain health conditions.

How to prepare

For the most accurate results, comparable with future measurements, we recommend that you:

  • avoid a large meal for 2–3 hours before the analysis
  • avoid exercise on the day of the analysis
  • avoid alcohol for 24 hours before the analysis
  • empty your bladder before the analysis
  • schedule follow-up measurements at the same time of day

Frequently asked questions

  • Is the analysis painful?

No. The analysis is completely painless. The device passes a weak electrical signal through the body that you cannot feel.

  • How often should the analysis be repeated?

It depends on your goal. When changing your diet or during treatment, the analysis is usually repeated every few weeks; for a general overview of your health, less often. You will receive a recommendation during your consultation.

  • Does the analysis replace a medical examination?

No. The analysis provides useful information about your body composition, but it does not make a diagnosis. We interpret the results in the context of your health and, if needed, recommend an examination by a medical specialist.
