Dermatological Examination

Examination by Dr Bojana Ješić, dermatovenereology specialist: a complete check of the skin, hair, and nails, mole dermoscopy, and skin tag removal.

The dermatological examination is performed by Dr Bojana Ješić, a specialist in dermatovenereology. It covers the skin, hair, and nails, with an individual approach to each patient: from a conversation about your symptoms and current skincare routine to a diagnosis and a treatment plan tailored to your skin type.

What does a dermatological examination include?

A dermatological examination includes a detailed clinical examination of the skin over the whole body and an assessment of existing changes such as moles, warts, and changes in skin color or texture. The aim is to identify the cause of conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, allergic reactions, very dry or oily skin, as well as hair and nail problems.

Based on the examination, the doctor makes a diagnosis and recommends a treatment or care plan tailored to your skin type and specific condition.

Dermoscopy – mole examination

Dermoscopy is a non-invasive diagnostic method for examining skin changes in detail. A dermatoscope is a device that magnifies and illuminates the skin, revealing structures that are not visible to the naked eye.

The method is used primarily to monitor moles and other pigmented lesions, so that suspicious changes, including potentially malignant ones, can be detected as early as possible. The examination is painless, quick, and requires no special preparation.

Regular mole checks are recommended for everyone, and especially for people with many moles, fair skin, a history of sunburn, or a family history of melanoma. The doctor will advise you how often you should have a check-up.

Skin tag removal

Soft fibromas (acrochordons), commonly known as skin tags, are harmless skin growths. They most often appear on the neck, under the arms, on the eyelids, and in the groin. They pose no health risk, but they can be a cosmetic concern or become irritated by friction from clothing and jewelry.

Removal is a short outpatient procedure performed with minimal discomfort. Recovery is quick, and you can return to your daily activities immediately afterwards.

Skin and hair care advice

In addition to examination and treatment, Dr Bojana Ješić will advise you on how to care for your skin and hair according to your skin type and specific needs: which products to use, how to protect your skin from the sun, and what to avoid.

When should you see a dermatologist?

An examination is recommended if you notice:

  • a mole that changes shape, color, or size, itches, or bleeds
  • a new skin change that does not go away within a few weeks
  • acne, redness, or flaking that does not respond to your usual skincare
  • increased hair loss or changes in your nails
  • itching, a rash, or irritation of unknown cause

Frequently asked questions

  • Is a dermatological examination painful?

No. Examining the skin, hair and nails, including dermoscopy, is completely painless and non-invasive. The dermatoscope is simply placed on the skin or held just above it.

  • Do I need to prepare for the examination?

No special preparation is needed. We recommend coming without makeup or nail polish so the doctor can examine your skin and nails properly. Please bring any previous medical reports and a list of the medications and skincare products you use.

  • How often should moles be checked?

How often depends on the individual. A yearly check-up is most commonly recommended, and more frequent checks for people with many moles, fair skin, or a family history of melanoma. Between check-ups, keep an eye on your moles and get in touch right away if you notice any change in their shape, color or size.

  • Can a skin tag come back after removal?

A removed skin tag does not usually grow back in the same place. People prone to skin tags may develop new ones over time, and these can be removed the same way.

  • Will removing a skin tag leave a scar?

With small skin tags, the treated area usually heals without a visible mark or leaves a barely noticeable light spot. The doctor will explain how to care for your skin after the procedure, including protecting it from the sun while it heals.

  • Do I need a referral?

No, you do not need a referral for an examination at Naya Medic polyclinic. You can book online or call us at +381 63 18 656 10.
